Investing In Costa Rican Real Estate Will Change Your Lifestyle
Ask most anyone the three most important criteria for purchasing a specific piece of real

estate and they will reply ¡®location, location, location¡¯. The concept is useful in deciding

what country to invest in, as well.

The decision to purchase property in Costa Rica is strongly supported by this premise,

and there are several location-based reasons to purchase here. Perhaps the most obvious

is the physical location itself and all that it encompasses: beaches, mountains, sun, and

practically perfect weather. Secondary to these items comes the experiences available

here: the culture, the people, the history, the language.

Many people choose to invest in Costa Rica because of monetary reasons. Those

looking to reside here point to the low cost of living, how far their dollar will go toward

satisfying their needs. When one¡¯s needs are taken care of, the remaining funds

comprise their disposable income which may be used to purchase wants and desires or

to invest. Those wishing to invest here point to the weakening U.S. housing market, its

ever-broadening effects on the U.S. economy as a whole, and their desire to find an

alternative market unencumbered by these woes. Costa Rica is the location where these

conditions exist.

Perhaps the most compelling of the reasons to purchase real estate in Costa Rica is

lifestyle enhancement, a hybrid of the above reasons. When you combine sun, surf,

friendly people, an exciting environment, low cost of living, and investment

opportunities the result is an enhanced lifestyle for less money; ¡®More Bang For The

Buck¡¯. Who wouldn¡¯t be interested in decreasing the amount of money they spend

while simultaneously improving their diet, accommodations, spending power, and the

service they receive?

Those interested in investing in Costa Rican real estate, but not residing here still have

the opportunity to reap the rewards of improved lifestyle. Income from owning

investment property in such a lucrative market is often substantial enough to make a

significant improvement in lifestyle at home and allow for travel to Costa Rica.

Ownership of condo-hotels and similar arrangements allows for use of the unit

whenever desired, and income for the rest of the year, when escape from the rat race is

impossible.

Whether you are interested in residing in Costa Rica full-time or looking for a solid

investment with benefits, purchasing real estate here will make your lifestyle richer.

Riverside Developers can assist you in finding the right investment property, one that

fits your image of the ideal lifestyle. The selection we offer ensures that you will find

the unit that is right for your needs, and our experience in the Costa Rican market

assures that you will have a truly turnkey experience even if you have little or no

previous experience in purchasing real estate abroad. Give us a call and we¡¯ll help you

attain the lifestyle you¡¯ve always dreamed of!

Investing In Costa Rica¡¯s Thriving Economy
Costa Rica remains one of the safest and most attractive countries for foreign investment in Latin America. The government, its ministries, and financial institutions maintain a markedly pro-U.S. stance in regard to financial security and tax laws. The stated aim of this policy is primarily to entice high-tech corporations to take advantage of Central America's most educated, computer literate, and disciplined workforce, along with the modern production infrastructure the country has been creating for the past decade. The economy is being transformed from its traditional dependence on coffee, bananas, and raising cattle to one focused on the production of microprocessors and providing high-tech telecommunications services.

This investment-friendly climate combines with current government policy to make Costa Rica "the Silicon Valley of Latin America". This position has enticed commercial leaders such as Acer, Microsoft, GE, Abbot Laboratories, Continental Airways, and Intel Corporation to make substantial investments here, both financially and physically, with major production and distribution facilities. Western Union has chosen Costa Rica to host its Latin American regional operations center. Since 1998, Costa Rica has earned more each year from high technology exports than from coffee or bananas or even its thriving $2 billion per year tourism industry, though these industries continue to expand under Costa Rica¡¯s economic reform programs.
Costa Rica is one of the most vocal supporters of continental free trade, and has had its own agreement with Mexico and other countries of the region for over a decade. The CAFTA trade agreement with the U.S., known locally as TLC, was passed at the end of 2007. Costa Rica's numerous free-trade zones offer enticing trade opportunities. Benefits such as exemption from import duties on raw materials, capital goods, parts and components; unrestricted profit repatriation; tax exemption on profits for eight years and a 50 percent exemption for the following four years provide lucrative incentives for trade.
High-tech companies are driving the export boom, while traditional exports, such as coffee and bananas, will fall in percentages of overall revenue figures, but in terms of revenue within each industry, have continued to grow.
Costa Rica is building a competitive advantage for itself and the many high-tech companies who have chosen or are pondering the option to operate here. It is a country that has been successfully integrating itself into the modern world economy for over a decade. Those doing business here have profited greatly, and will likely continue to do so as Costa Rica expands its share of the global market.

This overall growth pattern has accelerated gains in real estate value as individual investors follow the lead of large corporations, realizing the potential of this expanding market. Fortunately, foreigners have the same absolute right to own real property in Costa Rica, as do citizens. Many countries have restrictions on foreign ownership of real estate but Costa Rica is not amongst them. Here all people, Costa Rican or otherwise, have the same legal rights, which are protected by the Constitution and reflected in the laws.

Now is the time to invest in Costa Rica, and Riverside Developers offers the perfect vehicle to enter this market. We provide turnkey investment opportunities with fantastic returns, a minimum of exposure, and the peace of mind that can only come from investing with a company backed by years of experience developing properties in Costa Rica.

Contact us today to find the investment opportunity that fits your budget, strategy, and personality, all while providing the many benefits of owning property in paradise!

Canvas Art Prints ¨C Revolutionary Art

Author: James Horton
Today it is easier than ever to add that personal touch to your home. Unlike having photographs traditionally printed onto various surfaces by a professional, which can cost hundreds of pounds, having a photo printed onto a piece of canvas is a simple case of uploading a photo from a digital camera to a particular website that specialises in things of this nature. Not only is this a hassle-free approach, it also costs a lot less than doing it conventionally.

Art canvases are extremely unique and happen to be a great way to add that contemporary feel to any room. Some great uses for canvas art prints include:

Gifts:

It is often very hard to choose a gift for someone who has ¡®everything¡¯. But do they have a canvas print? It is very unlikely because canvas art prints are often overlooked as people presume they are too expensive, when in reality they are available at very reasonable prices thanks to improvements in mass production technology.

Family Photos:

Only being able to have art printed onto canvases is a thing of the past and with today¡¯s technology it is possible to print any photograph onto canvas. One great use for this technology is to capture family moments by displaying them on a canvas. A prime example of this would be a child¡¯s first school photo, or a child¡¯s graduation day.

Special Moments:

Many people have memorable sporting moments printed onto canvas, for example their all time favourite sporting memory on display on the wall on a well produced canvas. Wedding days are especially suited to having a photograph printed onto canvas.

Celebrities:

What is a better way to show support for a celebrity idol than having them printed onto high quality canvas and hanging them on the wall? How about some greats such as Tiger Woods, David Beckham, Mohammed Ali or Britney Spears?

Decorative:

What about a print of a child¡¯s favourite action hero hanging in their bedroom, or maybe a pop art canvas on the living room wall? Whatever the room, there will always be canvas art to suit. This level of versatility coupled with the extremely high quality and uniqueness make art canvas prints the perfect solution to all decoration issues.

Art canvases consist of high quality canvas stretched over strong wooden frames; canvases do not have outer frames which give a very ¡®cool¡¯, contemporary effect.

Cleveland Museum of Art print fair a great opportunity for anyone to start a collection
The art world can be a cold, intimidating place for the aspiring collector. Art dealers can be snobby and uninformative. Prices can be a mystery. Art history books are often laced with jargon that erects roadblocks to understanding. Fear not. Tonight, Saturday and Sunday, the Cleveland Museum of Art will hold its 24th annual Fine Print Fair at Cuyahoga Community College's Corporate College East in Warrensville Heights. The event is an opportunity for entry-level collectors to dive in, secure in the knowledge that the art museum has handpicked the dealers and vouches for their integrity. "All the dealers are ethical, fair and knowledgeable," said Jane Glaubinger, the museum's veteran print curator. "I tell them they need to be educators. If they're not friendly and not willing to answer questions, I don't invite them." At this year's fair, 14 dealers from across the United States will display thousands of prints ranging in price from $100 to the low five figures. Fine-art prints are original works on paper produced in multiple, identical versions through techniques that include etching, lithography, silkscreening or woodcuts. Invented in Europe in the 14th century as a way for artists to reach audiences beyond the church and the aristocracy, printmaking is in a sense the most democratic form of fine art. Prices for prints are often far lower than those for paintings or sculptures. The visiting dealers specialize in everything from Old Master prints to 19th-century French and English prints to contemporary works and photographs. "It's an opportunity to see a huge range of material you don't have access to normally," Glaubinger said. The museum as a rule doesn't ask local dealers to participate, because they're available to local buyers year round. One exception is the Verne Collection, which specializes in Japanese prints from the 18th century to the present. The Cleveland gallery helped initiate the fair in the 1960s, and has always been allowed to participate, Glaubinger said. To help raise money for the museum, Verne this year has donated a raffle print by American artist Daniel Kelly. Also this year, Glaubinger invited the participation of Zygote Press, the city's artist-run, nonprofit printmaking studio because she wanted to support local artists. Proceeds from the fair, organized by the museum and its Print Club, will benefit the Department of Prints, which holds 19,000 of the 43,000 works in the Cleveland museum's collection. Last year, the event netted $52,000 for the print department. The Print Club, founded in 1919, supports the operations of the department, buys works for the museum, and organizes educational programs. Annual dues of $250 entitle members to a limited-edition print commissioned by the club every year. Membership is limited to 250, with a single membership defined either as an individual or as a member and a spouse, or a member and a partner. The club has openings. Glaubinger will lecture at 11 a.m. Saturday on the basics of printmaking and print collecting. Following a 9:30 a.m. continental breakfast with dealers on Sunday, Barbara Tannenbaum, chief curator of the Akron Art Museum, will lecture at 10:15 a.m. on "Charming and Challenging: Photography at the Akron Art Museum." One risk in buying prints is that unscrupulous dealers market fakes as originals. Glaubinger knows. She once served as an expert witness before a Cuyahoga County grand jury in the case of a local dealer charged with selling fakes attributed to the Spanish 20th- century artist Joan Miro. But she said that buyers at the fair can shop with confidence. She's vetted all of them, and said that all have agreed to refund money to customers who are dissatisfied for any reason. "No one's going to cheat you," she said. "They're all honest and honorable dealers." Glaubinger, who said she'll be available to answer questions throughout the fair, recommends looking and learning before buying. Her biggest tip? "Whatever amount you have to spend, whatever your budget, buy the best," she said. So how do you recognize the best? "You've got to educate yourself," she said. "It takes knowledge." The print fair is a place to start. Fine art prints: A primer What is a print? A multiple work on paper produced in a handmade process by an artist or a fine-art press under the artist's supervision. Printmaking evolved as a way for artists to sell works to buyers who couldn't afford paintings, sculptures or tapestries. A print is not a poster or any other kind of photomechanical reproduction. What are the major printing techniques? Etchings, lithographs, silkscreens, woodcuts and monotypes are some of the many types of fine art prints. All involve technical processes that produce specific visual effects and qualities. Cleveland Museum of Art Print Curator Jane Glaubinger recommends against buying glicee prints, a type of mechanical reproduction. What are limited editions? Since the 19th century, many artists adopted the practice of signing and numbering prints. Numbering systems typically look like fractions, with a small number written above a slash, with a larger number below. The bottom number indicates the size of the edition, and the top number indicates the order in which the artist signed the print -- not in which it was printed. All limited-edition prints should be substantially identical. How do you check prices? Gordon's Print Price Annual lists prices paid at auction for prints. The Cleveland Museum of Art library carries Gordon's and subscribes to online services that compile auction prices. How do you verify authenticity? Identify type of paper and look for watermarks. Papers made before 1850 often show overall patterns when held up to light. They also reveal a watermark, an image recognizable when a sheet is held up to light. Watermarks are documented and cataloged. Check the catalogues raisonne -- the complete catalog of an artist's work. Such catalogs provide precise measurements of images or indentation produced in certain printing processes, which can be used to establish authenticity. Be sure the print was made during the artist's lifetime. Posthumous prints are less valuable and posters.
